You’ve booked your family vacation abroad and you’re ready to go, but you still need to get to the airport. And sometimes it can be more convenient to get there by car rather than taking the train.
However, parking your car at an airport like Heathrow or Gatwick can be expensive if you end up keeping it there for the duration of your vacation. For example, long-term parking at Gatwick Airport costs £25 per day on the first day and £20 on subsequent days.
While long term parking at Heathrow costs from £34.70 for the first day and £27.90 for each day thereafter. These costs can add up if you are away for a week or two.

Fear not, because there is an awesome hack that could save you a small fortune when you need to park your car if you are going to the airport. Below are all the details you need to know about it.
How it works?
A site named parkmydrive allows those with empty driveways and garages to rent them by the day, week or month to motorists. All you have to do is enter the location of where you want to park, in this case ‘Gatwick’ or ‘Heathrow’ airport and enter the dates you are looking for.
Also, be sure to enter a distance of one mile to be as close to the airport as possible. You can even choose if you want a garage, driveway or EV charging. This will then bring up a selection of relevant parking spots to choose from.
How to book?
First, you need to create an account on the site. Then, once you have entered all the details of the car park you are looking for, you will then see a list of all the locations that match your needs.
Click on a space and it will then take you to the calendar booking page showing all available times and rates, and, if the host has chosen to upload one, a photo of your potential parking space.
Once your request has been accepted by the host, you can either pay them in cash on arrival, or by postal check, or by direct transfer to a PayPal account or bank account.
